‘Smart idea to build it on the banks of a river’: New Townsville Stadium appears to flood

The new home of the North Queensland Cowboys appears to have flooded yesterday after torrential rain hit in Townsville.

A user on Reddit uploaded a photo of Queensland Country Bank Stadium on Wednesday appearing to show parts of the ground which is situation right next to Ross Creek under water.

One user asked, “Whoa, why so close to the river?”

But user DudeMcDude7649 was quick to jump in saying: “It’s sort an illusion guys. Pic is showing high tide. Which did get a bit scary high, the rest is of water laying on cement thus an optical illusion. The stuff you see on the grass is just that. Heavy water lying on the surface during a downpour. Not flooding into the stadium. So IF things flooded bad like last year perhaps it could be at risk, However this pic isn’t showing as bad as it seems.”

Looks like flooding to us.
