The North Queensland Cowboys are preparing to roll out Matt Scott’s replacement in 2020 with young Kiwi monster Emry Pere set to become one of the most exciting prospect props in the NRL.
Still on 21, Pere has spent the last few seasons under the tutelage of Scott. Standing 193 centimetres and weighing 110 kilograms, Pere will join the likes of Jason Taumalolo, Jordan McLean, John Asiata and Josh McGuire in a formidable engine room.
“There is a lot of young forwards coming through now, it is a huge opportunity for us young boys to get a taste of NRL,” Pere said.
“It is a big pre-season for myself and the fellow boys in my position.”
Meanwhile, Newcastle utility Connor Watson has conceded he needs a huge 2020 season to stay at the Knights. Coming off contract, Watson has hit the ground running at pre-season and admits he is eyeing off the hooking role despite the club signing Jayden Brailey from the Sharks.
