Premiership-winning South Sydney Rabbitohs prop George Burgess may have played his last game in the NRL after agreeing to return to England, signing a three-year deal with Super League powerhouse Wigan from 2020.
The 27-year-old bookend is currently suspended but will be available for the finals if required by coach Wayne Bennett.
“After speaking to Adrian Lam (Wigan coach) and Kris Radlinski (Wigan director), it’s clear to me that there’s something special happening at Wigan Warriors in 2020 and beyond,” Burgess said.
“Although it’s a huge decision to leave the NRL and say goodbye to Souths, I’m excited as to what the future will hold at Wigan Warriors and the Betfred Super League.”
Burgess will be joined at the Warriors next year by fellow signings Jackson Hastings and Bevan French.
