St George Illawarra coach Paul McGregor has confirmed the extent of captain Gareth Widdop’s shoulder problem which will see the five-eigth miss the remainder of the finals.
Widdop hurt his shoulder again against Brisbane on Sunday – with doctors unable to put it back in until more than 30 minutes after incident.
“His shoulder didn’t go in until after the siren,” McGregor said.
When I went downstairs after the bell had gone and he’d been off the field for a very long time, his shoulder was still out.”
McGregor however said Widdop would be involved with the team’s preparation this week.
“He’s in a lot of pain but he will do everything he can to help the team win next week, even though he won’t be on the footy field.”
Despite the huge 48-18 win over the Broncos, the Dragons will start big underdogs against arch rivals South Sydney.
