Former Rooster says Boyd Cordner too young to captain Australia

Former Rooster Mark Riddell says current Tricolours and Blues skipper Boyd Cordner is too young to captain Australia and that honour should go to South Sydney’s Greg Inglis.

The Roosters and Rabbitohs clash this weekend in a preliminary final and the last ever game to be played at the iconic Sydney Football Stadium.

But Riddell, who played with Cordner at the Chooks, believes Cordner can learn from Inglis.

“I think it’s pretty easy. I think we go with Greg Inglis as Captain and Boyd Cordner and vice Captain,” Riddell told Macqaurie Sports Radio.

“I think Boydy would be a very good vice captain considering he’s a bit younger and could learn a lot from Greg and his experience”.

It comes after Cameron Smith announced his representative retirement earlier in 2018.

Smith was 28 when he took over from Darren Lockyer while Cordner is currently 26.
