According to a report out of England, St. Helens is close to signing Wests Tigers club favourite and Fijian captain Kevin Naiqama.
League Express says the Super League almost has their man:
“Rumours had suggested that Naiqama was looking to move to Super League last year, before he denied that was the case. However, the Saints believe the possibility of the man who led Fiji in last year’s World Cup now continuing his career in England is more likely than ever before.
“And that has led them to table a deal for Naiqama – who is out of contract with the Tigers at the end of this coming NRL season. Current St Helens forward Zeb Taia was a team-mate of Naiqama’s at Newcastle earlier in their respective careers.”
Naiqama has become a leader since moving to Wests Tigers and capped an impressive 2017 season by leading the Fijians on their run in the World Cup which included eliminating New Zealand at the quarter final stage.
Naiqama’s arrival at the Saints could spark a domino effect that includes the future of current fullback, Dally M winner Ben Barba.
