Brisbane Broncos captain Darius Boyd says he is unaware of a rift between coach Wayne Bennett and former assistant Kevin Walters who sensationally walked out on the club after just four rounds to concentrate on his role as Queensland State of Origin coach.
This was Walters’ third stint under Bennett at the Broncos.
“Not that I know of. I don’t think so,” Boyd told Fox Sports.
“It’s very disappointing. I know how much Kevvie loves being a part of the club and the Broncos has a special place in his heart.
“But obviously he did say that Queensland was a big focus, which it is, and the hype around it and the media and the commitments that come with, that is obviously a lot and it’s already started.
“It’s round four and he’s already doing his work and he’s got his Queensland hat on so I respect his decision.”
It makes you wonder why Walters took the Broncos gig in the first place.
The Broncos are struggling after a shock home loss to the Gold Coast Titans.
