Former Dally M Medallist Todd Carney says he is not done with the NRL despite not scoring a contract for 2018.
Instead, he will play for the Northern Pride in the Intrust Super Cup.
“I will be playing in Q Cup and the Pride are aware that I still have an ambition to force my way back into the NRL,” Carney told Fairfax.
“If the opportunity comes up they will allow me to do that.
“That was an obvious motivation to play in the local competition, rather than head back overseas and play.
“The other was that I can start making plans for my future.”
The former Australian and New South Wales five-eigth has spent the last three seasons in the Super League playing at Catalans and Salford respectively and will be 32 by June next year.
