ABC and Fairfax journalist Richard Hinds has revealed the role Gold Logie winner Waleed Aly played in luring rising youngster Curtis Scott to the Melbourne Storm.
Scott was close to signing with North Queensland before meeting Aly at AAMI Park. And that discussion wouldn’t have happened if not for a chance encounter between Aly and Storm CEO Dave Donaghy.
“Dave said. ‘We’ve got this guy Curtis Scott here, we really want to sign him’,” Aly told Hinds.
“‘Can you help us out by going over and having a chat?’
“I had a good chat with the family for maybe 20 minutes. We talked about all sorts of things; how we make the show, the club and so on.”
Scott then signed with Melbourne and the rest is history.
