6.27pm: Former Blues captain Paul Gallen is at The Star. He has just ripped the Maroons over their selections on Triple M. “I canβt believe Slaterβs not there & Valentine Holmes is the other one. He was the best winger in the competition last year”.

6.10pm: Nathan Ross is right. Surely Holmes on the wing and Gagai in the centres is a stronger QLD team than Gagai/O’Neill? -Curtis Woodward.

6.01pm: It’s going to be a late one here at The Star. Team leaked earlier today – player interviews at 8.30pm tonight – Curtis Woodward.

5.12pm: Queensland legend Billy Moore has told ABC that the selection of Anthony Milford in the starting side may have been made after recent comments from Brisbane Coach Wayne Bennett who said he’d refuse to release Milford unless he was picked in the 17.
4.55pm: Has Laurie Daley really selected Josh Jackson at lock as the third middle player? If true, it means Blues bench will be Bird, Fifita, Trbojevic and Graham.

4.27: No Slater, no Holmes. Gagai should be in the centres. Myles, Guerra, Lillyman etc. We’ve (NSW) got them covered! – Matt French.
4.25pm: I wouldn’t have picked three quarters of that Queensland team. NSW will probably do the same though – Lewis Shepperd.
4.21pm: Looking over Maroons pack you have to think thereβs a big target on the chest of Origin rookie Napa who is starting in the front row with the struggling Nate Myles. If the Blues can rattle Napa (which will be some job), NSW can then rip into the likes of Myles, Guerra and Lillyman on the bench β Curtis Woodward.

3.18pm: It may be a blessing in disguise that Wallace is ruled out through injury. A shame for Wallace though as he’s been battling to get another Blues jersey for many years – Curtis Woodward.
It's a real shame for Peter Wallace missing out on Origin through injury. He's as tough as they come @PenrithPanthers @7NewsSydney #7news https://t.co/xUqJA51zxs

To clarify significance of Milford selection, if he was No.18 Qld would have to rule JT out by Friday or release Milford to play for Broncos
— Brad Walter (@BradWalterSport) May 22, 2017
1.59pm: Questionable side picked by Kevin Walters. There’s a feeling among Blues fans that Laurie Daley is going to make the same error of judgment with his team – Curtis Woodward.
Big Congratulations to all Maroon players selected. Good luck to debutants @dylannapa and @tony_milford Big honour.Feel for @billyslater
— Darryl Brohman OAM (@therealbigmarn) May 22, 2017
1.50pm: Milford is going to have a mountain of work and some very big bodies coming at him. Massive job for Cronk and Smith – Curtis Woodward.
1.48pm: Maroons side looks very beatable. Eyebrows will be raised about Billy Slater’s omission. Surely Maroons are a stronger side with Slater there. Aidan Guerra, Nate Myles and Jacob Lillyman are interesting inclusions. New South Wales forward pack will have a very big advantage in Game I – Curtis Woodward.

1.15pm: Walters on Holmes – That was a tough phone call but if you play well for Queensland you get rewarded and that was the case with the guys we’ve gone with.
I'm stupified @QLDmaroons haven't picked @billyslater #Origin
— Curtis Woodward (@woodward_curtis) May 22, 2017
1.11pm: Walters on Napa – If Napa was available for selection last year there’s no doubt he would have played. We just want him to play well for Queensland and if he can do that it’s going to help everyone.
1.11pm: Walters on Slater – It’s been hard, difficult for all of us, because Billy’s been such a good player for Queensland.
1.07pm: Maroons Team: Boyd, Oates, Chambers, O’Neill, Gagai, Milford, Cronk, Napa, Smith, Myles, Papalii, Gillett, McGuire. Bench: Morgan, Thaiday, Guerra, Lillyman. 18th Man: Thurston.

12.12pm: NSWRL will announce new Hall of Fame inductees tonight after the Blues team announcement.
12.08pm: SMH reporting that Slater will indeed miss selection. Confirmed too that Thurston is little chance of playing and Anthony Milford will get his Maroons debut.
12.02pm: Expected Blues team: Tedesco B.Morris Hayne Dugan Ferguson Maloney Pearce Woods Wallace Klemmer Cordner Frizell Jackson Bench: Bird Fifita J.Trbojevic Graham.
11.47am: Confusion over NSW hooking role. Reports suggest Nathan Peats had starting spot but earlier spotting of Peter Wallace at The Star. It looks like Robbie Farah’s Origin career could be over.
11.42am: Whispers getting louder that Billy Slater may miss Origin selection completely! Ben Dobbin said this morning on Triple M Brisbane that Darius Boyd will be fullback. Suggestions too that Dane Gagai will get a wing spot ahead of Slater who has been in amazing form at Melbourne.
