Jason Taylor is set to be the first NRL coach sacked in 2017 according to reports surfacing on Monday.
The Wests Tigers have been pummelled in back-to-back weeks by the Canberra Raiders and Penrith Panthers respectively.
It also seems that Taylor has lost the confidence of the playing group including Aaron Woods, James Tedesco, Mitch Moses and Luke Brooks who are yet to re-sign with the club. While Taylor is liked by the players – frustrations are high at the lack of development in the team.
If he is to go, Taylor will be the coach remembered for ousting Robbie Farah in an attempt to drag the club into a new direction and change its culture.
Board directors will meet on Monday night to nut out the club’s future.
Former Wests Tigers prop Todd Payten and Ivan Cleary are early contenders to fill the position.
