Canterbury Bulldogs five-eigth Josh Reynolds could find himself in the Shire if Cronulla Sharks coach Shane Flanagan has his way.
Reynolds is on the outer with the Bulldogs with the off-contract playmaker setting his asking price at $800,000 which Canterbury has reportedly balked at.
Reynolds, halves partner Moses Mbye and hooked Michael Lichaa have come under fire for the club’s current performances which sees the Dogs languishing at the wrong end of the competition table. Many have questioned their skill sets including Immortal Andrew Johns.
But Flanagan says he’s more than happy to approach Reynolds if he becomes available.
“I’ve known Josh since he was a kid, we’re from the same junior club,” Flanagan told Channel Nine.
“I know his father and his mother so that’s where that interest comes from. If he’s going to leave the Bulldogs i’ll talk to him.
“He’s one of those players you look for, and if you need points, you throw the ball in Josh’s hands.”

It’s an interesting scenario considering the Sharks already boast James Maloney and Chad Townsend who helped the Sharks to their maiden premiership just last season.
The man in the firing line is Townsend with the halfback’s deal expiring at the end of 2017 but it will be difficult for Flanagan to justify moving Townsend on considering the huge impact he has had at the Cronulla club.
Shifting Reynolds into dummy half is also a longshot now that they’ve picked up former Dally M Hooker of the Year James Segeyaro.
Maybe Flanagan is simply helping out an old mate and bumping up his market value or maybe he’s serious.
Which makes you wonder.
How does Townsend feel about all this?
