If you want a captain that leads by example – look no further than Parramatta Eels forward Beau Scott who will co-captain the blue and gold alongside fellow veteran Tim Mannah.
The Eels have put a hellish 2016 season behind them that included losing former skipper Kieran Foran, salary cap cheating, loss of NRL premiership points, an Auckland Nines title, a sex video featuring star playmaker Corey Norman and the removal of board members.
Parramatta need actions on-field and who better than Beau Scott?
“I don’t really use a lot of words; it’s more about leading by example and then setting it,” Scott told Inside Sport.
“You can’t really ask people to do things you’re not willing to do yourself. That’s the way I look at leading and being a leader at the Eels.
“We’ve had a really strong pre-season. We’ve bought wisely over the off-season, bringing new players to the club. It’s an exciting year going forward. Obviously being named captain at the start of the year for the 2017 season is a great privilege to have, along with a lot of responsibility.
“I’m looking forward to co-captaining with Tim, who has been at the club a long time, and us helping each other out along the journey.”
Parramatta will face the Gold Coast Titans this weekend in Alice Springs.
