NRL legend Brad Fittler says fewer interchanges will only make returning South Sydney favourite Sam Burgess better because he is an 80 minute player.
“Sammy plays 80 minutes and at his level and the way he plays, it is only going to get better (for him),” Fittler told sportsfan.com.au.
“There will be more space and more fatigued players so he becomes invaluable.
“Sammy is a leader. He just gets in there and rips in. It didn’t work in rugby union, which I was very surprised by, but that was on the back of a team that showed poor qualities throughout the competition.”
Meanwhile Fittler has called Wests Tigers’ handling of the Robbie Farah saga as “amateurish” and told sportsfan.com.au he hoped this wouldn’t be the end of Jason Taylor’s tenure as coach of the embattled club.
“Hopefully this instability will bring them together.”
