Brisbane Broncos centre Jack Reed says the disappointment of missing out on the Auckland Nines experience in previous seasons is driving him to star in 2016.
Reed also hinted that some of the Broncos’ bigget names will head across the ditch for the annual tournament.
“I am a bit filthy that I have missed a few of these now; it’s exciting because you are building towards your season,” Reed told broncos.com.au.
“It’s an excellent concept, 90,000 buzzing fans over two days.
“You think of Anthony Milford, Ben Hunt and Kodi Nikorima, players who can set the stage alight.
“It also gives the big boys an opportunity — I think even Corey Parker is throwing his hand up for it this year.
“You love the fact that there is so much colour behind it — they get there in fancy dress and have a good time.”
Meanwhile Cronulla veteran Luke Lewis says the Sharks can’t afford a slow start to 2016.
“Our team is really well balanced. Our biggest key is now making sure we put it all together during the trial games so when it’s time for the season we’ll be ready to go,” Lewis told foxsports.com.au.
“We can’t afford to have a terrible start like we did last year.”
