Rising Penrith star Dallin Watene-Zelezniak has re-signed with the club for the next two seasons keeping him at the foot of the mountains until at least the end of 2017.

There is strong word coming out of the Panthers that new coach Anthony Griffin will finally shift DWZ to fullback, allowing fellow superstar-of-the-future Matt Moylan to five-eight.

“It’s awesome to have committed to the Panthers for another year,” Watene-Zelezniak said.

“There is a lot to look forward to with our current squad, and all the young players coming through, and I’m excited to be a part of it.”

“I’ve always signed one-year deals as it gives me extra motivation and makes sure I’m working hard to earn my place in the team,” he said.

“The Panthers have shown a lot of belief in my abilities and I am determined to repay that faith on the field.”

In other good news for the club, Penrith has secured the son of sacked coach Ivan, 17-year-old Nathan, until the end of 2018.

The Australian schoolboy is yet to turn 18.

“To be honest it’s made it easier for me to carve my own path and follow the direction I want to go without having people speculate about the influence of my Dad,” Cleary junior said.

“It’s an awesome feeling to get the deal done so I can focus on preparing myself for the upcoming season.”
