Former Australian prop and new Melbourne assistant Jason Ryles has sounded out Jesse Bromwich, captain Cameron Smith and unsung hero Dale Finucane as he begins his new role with the club and says the job offer was a welcome surprise.

“It came as a bit of a shock about six weeks ago but it’s something that I’m really looking forward to,” Ryles told melbournestorm.com.au.

“There’s a lot of hard work in front of me, especially with Craig [Bellamy] at the helm.

“I’ll see how I go but I’m really looking forward to it.

“I’m blessed to be able to coach those guys, especially the likes of Jesse [Bromwich], Cam [Smith] and Dale [Finucane].”

Ryles paid tribute to Kiwi prop Bromwich who is currently overseas in England with the touring New Zealanders.

“Jesse is arguably the best front rower in the world at the moment.

“It’s a real privilege to coach guys like big Jess.”

Meanwhile Kelepi Tanginoa says he’s happy to be back at Parramatta after a short stint with premiers North Queensland.

“I am excited to be back. It’s a privilege to come back to where you started from and I know most of the boys so it’s pretty good to come back and feel like you are at home,” Tanginoa said.

“I know most of the players here. I have been here for a few years now.

“I went away last year, but I’m back and I’m really excited to see what is going to happen in 2016.”
