England Rugby Coach Says Burgess not Going Anywhere

England rugby coach Stuart Lancaster has scoffed at reports that former South Sydney premiership winner Sam Burgess was set to make a switch back to rugby league.

“I’ve not had any conversations with him about a move to rugby league at all,” Lancaster said.

“Genuinely, 100 per cent I didn’t know that story was out there.

“My last conversation with him was about him going back to Bath. He can’t wait to get stuck into the Premiership.

“He feels he’s made good strides as a player and he wants to continue to improve.

“Bath will be delighted to have him back and I can’t see anything changing in that regard.”

Burgess was dropped from England’s next World Cup clash after the home nation was hammered by Australia and booted from the quarter finals.

England play Uruguay this weekend in Manchester.

Ironically the Super League grand final will be played in Manchester on the same day at a sold out Old Trafford where the Leeds Rhinos are playing Wigan.

The Rhinos have been hotly linked to Burgess in recent reports.
