Respected former coach Matt Elliott has criticised the Sydney Roosters after their loss to the Melbourne Storm last weekend saying the Roosters failed to alter their game plan which could spell doom against Canterbury in Week Two.
“Changing approach during a game of this magnitude is extremely difficult and dangerous as it can distract players’ mindsets,” Elliott said in this week’s Big League magazine.
“However, there was an easy yet highly effective adjustment the Roosters could have made.
“By executing their skill a fraction earlier with both their tip-on and shift plays, it would have required the Storm to react earlier and travel a greater distance to shut them down.
“As the amount of research increases on each opponent, the team that is able to make these small adjustments whilst ensuring other parts their performance aren’t compromised is the outfit that will lift the trophy in three weeks’ time.”
Meanwhile Canterbury giant Sam Kasiano has praised team-mate and good friend Frank Pritchard in which could be Pritchard’s last game in the NRL.
“We are good mates. I just want to send him out with a (premiership) ring and on a happy note,” Kasiano said.
‘Then he can go and have fun in England. I’m going to miss the bloody dinosaur.
“He has been our best player the past couple of months. We need him. He is the X-factor on an edge for us.’’
