Brisbane Broncos assistant coach Kevin Walters concedes that the Broncos give up too many easy metres in the ruck and could spell the end of their campaign when they face either Sydney Roosters or Canterbury Bulldogs for a spot in the grand final.
Speaking on Fox Sports’ NRL 360, Walters says the team is aware of the problem.
“I can confirm that, we are worried that’s going to be the case,” Walters said.
“It was spoken about, we had a meeting on Tuesday with the players.
“They’re aware of it, it’s been our Achilles’ heel all season.
“They defend their tryline as good as any team in the competition, but we are conceding too many metres to allow those bigger sides into your 20-metre zone.
“And let’s face it, it’s one missed tackle and it’s try time.”
The Roosters and Bulldogs have arguably the most dominant packs in the game and will be constant threats to the Brisbane line.
