The NZ Herald is reporting that the National Rugby League dropped the ANZAC Test without even notifying the NZRL and did not return their calls.
“This news today has taken us a little by surprise,” NZRL chief executive Phil Holden told reporters.
“We haven’t physically had an opportunity to speak to anybody so I don’t know and no-one else knows either.
“We have obviously reached out to them to try to seek some clarity but to date we haven’t had a response.”
The Kiwis are now without their annual blockbuster against the Kangaroos and will be forced to take on the likes of Samoa or Tonga as a new revenue stream.
