The New South Wales Blues have been massacred by Queensland 52-6 in a display that can only be described as a demolition to secure the 2015 State of Origin series in front of a raucous Suncorp Stadium crowd.
Johnathan Thurston grabbed the three Ultimatesportsmemorabilia.com.au Player of the Year points with Justin Hodges scoring two in his final Origin appearance.
It was also a memorable night for Corey Parker who received one vote. Parker had been embroiled in a war of words with Blues enforcer David Klemmer throughout the series but it was Parker who’d have the last laugh.
“When you don’t feel in control, you lose your way at times,” Blues coach Laurie Daley said post-match.
“We have taken a lot of steps forwards over the last couple of years, tonight we took a few steps backwards. That wasn’t us tonight.
“I’m shocked it ended up like that.
“We have to deal with it, accept it and the challenge has been set. We will be back next year to have a crack.”
