The San Francisco Chronicle has mentioned Jarryd Hayne in a brief report after his press conference today in Sydney.

Journalist Eric Branch posted the following:

“Hayne, 27, who projects as a running back and return specialist, announced he will sign a futures contract with the 49ers at a press conference in Australia on Monday. In explaining why he chose the 49ers over the Lions and Seahawks, he cited the NFL Europe background of head coach Jim Tomsula, who has extensive experience teaching the game to novices. Hayne, 6-foot-2 and 226 pounds, was a two-time National Rugby League player of the year. He recently ran a 4.53-second 40-yard dash, which would have ranked sixth among running backs at last month’s NFL combine.”
