Cameron ‘The Bender King’ Munster has given details on THAT famous photo of himself in Queensland State of Origin camp.

Munster’s Melbourne Storm had just won the NRL premiership and celebrations were in full swing in Queensland for Munster and the boys.

The larrikin five-eigth said that the party was set to continue in Byron Bay when he received the horror news from Maroons officials. Even then, he tried to push back his arrival to keep the Storm Mad Monday going.

Eventually, finally, Munster was forced to sit through a two-hour photo shoot with his Queensland teammates which he says was “pretty much a blur.”

“I was sitting there signing jerseys for the premiership and I had Cooper [Johns] on my left and Brandon [Smith] on my right and it doesn’t take too much to convince me to have a beer,” Munster said on The Skipper and The Prez podcast.

“Brandon said ‘let’s just make a meal of it and we’ll go to Byron for a night or two… let’s just celebrate a bit more’. And I then I had Cooper Johns in my ear and he’s the best at giving a motivational speech and getting you up and it got me up.

“So I just remember ringing [Wayne Bennett] and the call didn’t take too long. It was pretty much just ‘mate, get your f***ing arse here’.

“It didn’t really go down too well.”

According to Munster, he made a driver who’d been sent by the QRL to pick him up wait for more than two hours as he pondered other escape routes.

Hilariously, the Maroons star then sat at the photo shoot trying not to fall asleep for several hours.

“I got into camp and was told we had to do team photos and I looked at them said ‘you’ve got to be kidding me give me one more day, look at me.”

No luck.
