Kevin Walters set to be confirmed as new Broncos coach this week: report

Kevin Walters has beaten out Paul Green in the race to become new Brisbane Broncos coach according to The Daily Telegraph.

An announcement should come from the Broncos this week.

Walters will then be joined at Red Hill by legendary Storm coach Craig Bellamy who will slide into a coaching director’s role in 2022.

Bellamy denied he had signed anything after Melbourne’s loss to the Dragons at Kogarah yesterday but former Storm halfback Cooper Cronk believes conversations have taken place.

“I believe Craig, I’ve seen him speak like that.. he’s telling the truth,” Cronk told Fox League’s Big League Wrap.

“There’s no doubt he’s had conversations with the Broncos about what 2022 looks like but he’s protecting his group, he’s going to try and chase a premiership this year and then he’ll make the decision.”

The Storm may look very different soon with current Melbourne CEO Dave Donaghy also linked to the open role at the Broncos.
