Anthony Seibold’s legal team say a ‘prominent name’ is behind the scurrilous online rumours that have haunted Seibold and his family in recent weeks.

Dave Garratt, Seibold’s lawyer, said a media identity’s online presence recently ‘went black’ once Seibold began threatening legal action.

“The rumour is that somebody who has a role in rugby league is supposed to be involved in all of this messy business,” Channel Nine journalist Danny Weidler told Triple M on Tuesday morning.

“I don’t know who’s got the time to bother doing this if they’ve got a significant role in the game or the motivation to try and upset the Seibold family in the way that it has done, obviously.”
