Some things are worth being celebrated. Just like Parramatta cult hero of the 1970’s, Phil ‘Spider’ Mann who stood a cheeky 6 foot and 7 inches if you don’t mind.

Here are ten of the tallest fullbacks to ever play first grade rugby league.

Phil Mann 2.01m

The Cumberland Throw

Standing taller than the rest, Phil ‘Spider’ Mann was no flash in the pan, playing 55 games for the Eels between 1974 and 1981.

Paul Hauff 1.97m

A Kangaroos and Maroons representative, Hauff spent six years with the Broncos making his debut in 1990. A shoulder injury in 1992 saw him miss Brisbane’s maiden premiership and struggled to get a look in thereafter.

Greg Inglis 1.95m

A legendary centre in his own right, Inglis switched to fullback after signing with South Sydney from Melbourne and then helped the Bunnies to the 2014 premiership with a big win over Canterbury.

Matt Adamson 1.95m

Matt Adamson made his debut for Parramatta in 1991 before switching to the Panthers. With a booming boot and his hulking size, it wasn’t long before he was shifted to the engine room. He represented Australia and NSW.

Tom Trbojevic 1.94m

One of the modern day superstars of the NRL. ‘Tommy T’ has size, speed and skill.

Latrell Mitchell 1.93m

Another one of the big guns of 2020. Latrell recently switched from the Roosters across to Redfern and will be hoping to win another premiership this season – this time in red and green!

Clint Gutherson 1.90m

‘King Gutho’ may not have the strong build of some of the other players on the list but he makes up for it with his enthusiasm and leadership.

Justin Hodges 1.90m

Yeah, yeah – Justin Hodges played the major part of his career at centre. But in a stroke of genius from Broncos coach Wayne Bennett, the great Queenslander was moved to fullback during the 2006 season. The Broncos went on to win the premiership with Hodges at the back and Karmichael Hunt on the wing.

Brett Mullins 1.90m

What can be said about Brett Mullins? Brilliant. Gun. Freak.

Jarryd Hayne / Josh Dugan 1.89m

Dally M Winner Hayne and Sharks veteran Dugan round out the list. Hayne was a power player with incredible touch while Dugan was also untouchable at the peak of his powers.

Let us know if we’ve missed anyone!
