‘Missed tackles, didn’t work hard enough to get onside’: Todd Payten drops truth bomb on Adam Blair

Interim Warriors coach Todd Payten gave a refreshing and brutal summation of veteran forward Adam Blair’s form.

Payten says Blair was lucky to survive the chop completely and will come off the bench for the Auckland-based club this week.

“He wasn’t great, missed a lot of tackles, didn’t work hard enough to get onside a lot of the time,” Payten told Newstalk ZB of Blair’s performance against Cronulla.

“That’s just not acceptable. Given his experience we keep him in the side.

“Anyone else I reckon they would have missed out completely.

“I think that sends a message to the rest of the team.”

Payten has also confirmed the club is interested in the services of current Toronto players Sonny Bill Williams Ricky Leutele.
