Canberra Raiders gun Jack Wighton’s star has shot through the Milky Way after a breakout 2019 NRL season that saw the once-troubled utility on the brink of being sacked.

The latest report from The Canberra Times says Wighton has rejected an option in his favour for thee 2021 season leaving the Raiders open to attacks from rival clubs.

Wighton won the Clive Churchill Medal in a losing side in the grand final and represented New South Wales for the first time just a few months earlier.

According to his new manager, up to twelve clubs have inquired for his services.

But the81stminue.com can report that Wighton has never been closer with the Raiders and coach Ricky Stuart.

“Right now he isn’t going anywhere,” a source close to the Raiders told us.

“There’s some smoke and mirrors but Jack hasn’t spoken about leaving.

“There’s something real happening here in Canberra.”
