Newcastle Knights star recruit Jesse Ramien has seemingly played his last game for the club after being told he could negotiate with rival clubs immediately.
It is a brutal fall from grace for the one-time NSW Blues possible who signed from Cronulla last year and was expected to fire at the Knights.
Instead, Ramien has struggled to adapt to his new club and find form.
His relationship with coach Nathan Brown is icy at best with Brown informing Ramien his services were no longer required.
Newcastle released a statement on Thursday.
“The Newcastle Knights have granted Jesse Ramien permission to negotiate with other clubs,” it reads.
“The decision this week to drop Ramien from the NRL side prompted discussions for the centre to find a new home.
“These talks were mutual and the Knights have given Ramien’s management approval to negotiate.
“The Knights wish him all the best.”
