Former New South Wales skipper Paul Gallen has taken umbrage with Phil Gould’s assessment of the Blues in Game I where Gould questioned if the side gave 100% in their narrow 18-14 loss at Suncorp.

The pair came face-to-face on Channel Nine’s 100% Footy with Gallen taking aim at the former Blues boss.

“I read your column and I just can’t agree that you think New South Wales players don’t give their 100 percent, 100 percent of the time. I’ve got no doubt that they do,” Gallen said.

“What I’m saying is, just tarring everyone with the same brush (is wrong). I don’t agree that everyone doesn’t give 100 percent.”

But Gould fired back, signally out Latrell Mitchell who has now been sacked by the Blues for Game II.

“Did Latrell Mitchell give 100 percent in Game I? We’ll go through the tape and I’ll show you a lot of effort areas where he didn’t,” he said.

“I think a lot of them do, but there were a couple who didn’t. You’ve got to pay the penalty if you come in and you don’t give 100 percent on the field.

“What’s the problem if they look for someone else who can?”
