Rugby league great and host of the iconic Footy Show which aired from 1994 to 2018 – Paul ‘Fatty’ Vautin’ – says he will be one day spill the beans on his sudden sacking from the show.

It was reported last year by News Limited that Channel Nine fired Vautin from the show he helped build while on an overseas holiday with family.

Speaking exclusively to The Courier Mail, Vautin admitted it “hurt a lot” when he was given the news.

“I haven’t spoken about it and I won’t yet but you would be really surprised how it happened,” Vautin said.

“One day I will talk about it. The demise of the show hurt as well but you know what – that’s life, especially in the media game which can be quite fickle. But I am really enjoying commentating now and connecting with grassroots and club people I haven’t seen for years.”

Vautin is still employed by Nine as a commentator.
