David Furner will not be coaching the South Sydney Rabbitohs. That’s according to English club Leeds who have signed the incoming coach on a three-year deal.
Their response comes after reports in Australia that Furner was tipped to replace Anthony Seibold at South Sydney who was reportebly headed to the Brisbane Broncos.
Furner has most recently worked as an assistant under Seibold at Redfern.
“We’re looking forward to Dave arriving and plans are well advanced for next season. We’re in constant contact,” said Rhinos CEO Gary Hetherington.
“Dave met with (signing) Konrad Hurrell last week to finalise his move and is in conversation with myself and (director) Kevin Sinfield regarding other potential targets. He’s also been speaking to our conditioning staff about his plans for pre-season.”
Furner knows Leeds well after playing for them in the early 2000’s.
