Sam Thaiday snubs Wayne Bennett as coach in his all-time XIII

Wayne Bennett is on the outer at the Brisbane Broncos as the curtain inches down on his illustrious career at the club.

Several former Broncos, including Gorden Tallis and Justin Hodges, have recently sided with the club over Bennett as the soap opera continues.

And now current Bronco Sam Thaiday has twisted the knife into Uncle Wayne just a little further after naming his all-time favourite XIII.

Thaiday picked his former State of Origin mentor Mal Meninga ahead of Bennett as the best coach he ever played under.

“It might be controversial,” Thaiday told NRL.com.

“I’m going to go with Mal just because of the success he’s had as a coach. Mal was coached by Wayne, so he’s got some of Wayne’s old police force days within the stuff that he does.

“I think culturally Mal is really good at bringing the best out in players.

“I didn’t make the 13, so he mustn’t have called me.”
