Queensland fans won’t show up for a dead rubber in Brisbane: Matthew Johns

Veteran forward and former NSW Blue Luke Lewis believes under siege captain Boyd Corner will prove detracter Phil Gould wrong after the one-time Blues coach questioned Cordner’s selection.

Lewis went one step further, predicting Cordner will receive the man of the match award.

“100 per cent he (Cordner) will prove him (Gould) wrong,” Lewis told Fox Sports NRL 360 on Tuesday night.

“I think Boyd Cordner will be the Blues best forward on the park tomorrow night.

“He will come out and run hard and direct and lead them the way NSW need to be led and he will prove Gus wrong.”

Meanwhile former Blues half Matt Johns, speaking on Triple M, believes Queensland fans won’t turn up to Suncorp Stadium for Game III if the Maroons lose the first two games of the season likening a dead rubber in Brisbane to a “wake”.
