Flanagan admits Sharks watching Pearce situation closely

Cronulla have just signed former Penrith captain Matt Moylan for 2018 but aren’t done just yet with Sharks coach Shane Flanagan believing the club is still in with a chance of nabbing disgruntled Sydney Roosters great Mitchell Pearce.

The Roosters made waves recently when they signed free agent and incumbent Australian pivot Cooper Cronk leaving Pearce in a difficult position.

“Some days you hear that he’s going to move, some days you hear that he’s going to stay. So we’ll just sit back and I presume that will get done in the next week or two,” Flanagan said on Thursday.

“I think he’s due back to start training with the Roosters around the 20th or 23rd, somewhere along there. So I suppose we’ll hear if he’s going to go or going to move.”

Flanagan admitted the club had not made an official approach to Pearce but said players who had played at State of Origin with Pearce had been in discussions.
