Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan, John Cena… Daniel Vidot?

That’s right – former Brisbane, St George Illawarra, Gold Coast and Canberra winger Daniel Vidot has taken another step towards his dream of becoming a WWE superstar after a second trial with the corporate giant at their training centre in Orlando, Florida. The Samoan International was joined by the likes of 7-foot Chinese boxer Taishan Dong, gridiron players and Hollywood stuntwomen.

“More than 30 athletes, including independent wrestlers, undefeated professional boxers, former NFL players and collegiate grapplers, attended a talent tryout this week at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Fla,” the WWE.Com article reads.

“The three-day camp, led by WWE Head Coach Matt Bloom, featured competitors from the United States, Canada, China, Russia, Australia, Mexico, India and Brazil.”

The WWE, run by wrestling mogul Vince McMahon, has been interested in Vidot for over two years describing the former NRL star as “a 27-year old pro rugby player from Brisbane, Australia. The 6-foot-2, 235-pounder played wing in Australia’s National Rugby League.”

Vidot has been hesitant to discuss WWE’s plans for him in the past.

“The WWE aren’t too big on me talking to the media about it, but that (pro wrestling) is still in my plans,” Vidot told News earlier this year.

“I just want to focus on football first and look at WWE when I retire. I definitely haven’t given up on that.

“The Undertaker is wrestling in his 50s, so there’s no reason I can’t do it after my NRL career ends.”

Vidot would be the next in a long line of Samoans to fly the WWE flag that includes The Rock, Rikishi, The Wild Samoans and current stars Roman Reigns and The Usos.
