Macklemore’s NRL performance making waves in the United States

Talk about publicity. Macklemore’s performance at the NRL Grand Final is making waves overseas with The Washington Post picking up in the story in the United States.

There’s been some backlash to Macklemore set to play ‘Same Love’ which has sparked outrage by some – including former Prime Minister Tony Abbott.

“The NFL isn’t the only league experiencing pushback from politicians,” Marissa Payne writes.

“It’s also happening in Australia’s National Rugby League, which is set to host its Grand Final championship game on Sunday. In place of kneeling athletes, however, conservative politicians and fans in Australia are taking aim at American rapper Macklemore, who is slated to perform a four-song medley, including his 2012 hit “Same Love,” at the event.”

It keeps getting better for the NRL and Macklemore with ‘Same Love’ returning to number 1 on iTunes.
