Sam tapped on shoulder: Thaiday joins Lewis, Walters and Hancock in unwanted Broncos group

Sam Thaiday has joined an unwanted list at the Brisbane Broncos that includes club legends Wally Lewis, Michael Hancock, Alan Cann and Kerrod Walters.

Thaiday was recently axed by the Queensland team after Game I and has now been told by Wayne Bennett he isn’t needed in 2019.

Bennett is no stranger to making tough calls on ageing club greats and once famously tapped Lewis on the shoulder and moved him on from the club.

Thaiday has been told he won’t be required in season 2019 but will be given a swansong in 2018.

Bennett told News Corp of the decision on Monday morning.

Thaiday currently sits on 268 NRL games and is on course to hit the 300 sometime next season.
