The Canberra Raiders have bolstered their roster by signing Fijian Olympic Gold Medalist Masivesi Dakuwaqa for the remainder of 2017.

Dakuwaqa can reportedly play in the forwards or as an outside back.

“He’s a gold medallist and plays on both sides of the park. He’s a big unit and it makes obvious sense to have a look at him and see how he goes,” Raiders recruitment manager Peter Mulholland said.

“His experience has been playing lock and second row as a kid, but he would also be lethal as an outside back. He could end up playing anywhere.”

Former teammate Jarryd Hayne took to Twitter saying Dakuwaqa is “danger”.

The 23-year-old stands 190cm tall and weights over 100kg. Dakuwaqa is no stronger to rugby league playing the game growing up in Fiji.

More alarming for opponents – the literal translation of his surname means “shark god”.

Look out!
