Steve Roach says sacking Jason Taylor won’t fix Wests Tigers problems

Balmain Tigers legend Steve Roach has lashed the Wests Tigers saying sacking Jason Taylor as coach won’t fix the problems at the joint venture club.

Roach said the team’s problems start in the engine room.

“Aaron Woods has been carrying that pack for five years,” Roach told foxsports.com.au.

“ … The Tigers have never been the same since Gareth Ellis retired. He was our leader and we never replaced him with a tough, hard edged type of player.

“If you want Woodsy to be your captain and you want him to be one of the greats of your club, well he needs help, he can’t do it on his own.

“He’s got no one else and that’s not being disrespectful to the other blokes who are playing, we need one more metre eater in the middle of the ruck, a big bopper, then all of those kids like Jesse Sue and Ava Seumanufagai and all those blokes will be better players.

“Especially when you’ve got leaders. Woodsy’s a leader but he can’t do it one out.”
