Canterbury Bulldogs NRL debutant Brad Abbey gets to do something most Kiwis don’t get to do – play his first top flight game in New Zealand.

The Junior Kiwi will play fullback against the New Zealand Warriors on Friday night in Dunedin.

Campbelltown junior Marcelo Montoya will also make his debut on the wing.

“I’m pretty nervous, but I’m really excited to head back home and play against the Warriors. My family are really proud and they’re just excited to see me play. Des has told me to just do my job and play my natural game,” Abbey said.

Meanwhile Bulldogs forward Josh Jackson has pushed for Des Hasler’s re-signing as head coach.

“It would be good if it happened soon. He’s pretty vital to the club and what we have achieved in the past and moving forward as well,” Jackson said.

Canterbury are 0-2 to start the year and desperately need to get their season rolling.
