Say it ain’t so: Raiders ditch cheerleaders for dance competition

Stop everything. The Canberra Raiders are in the news for all the wrong reasons after announcing that they are ditching their cheerleaders.

In another victory for the PC Police, it seems cheerleaders are the next great pastime to be rubbed out by the do-gooders.

Canberra are following South Sydney as only the second team in the NRL to run their game day without a bounty of beauties.

Souths swapped their ladies for a marching band and it looks like the Raiders are trying to weird crowds out even more by replacing ‘The Emeralds’ with a dance competition – whatever that means.

“What an absolute shame … and what a shame for all the charities that the Emerald’s supported and worked for. What’s going to happen to them? Are the dance schools going to do the same charity work? How is this “better” for the community?” one fan wrote on the cheer squad’s Facebook page.

Sigh.
