South Sydney’s Kyle Turner says new recruit Robbie Farah is settling in nicely and leading from the front.

Round 1, 2017 is months away but the opening round clash between Souths and Wests Tigers is building and Turner has revealed the highly-respected position Farah already holds within his new team at Redfern.

“He’s training the house down and he’s fitting really well into the group,” Turner told NRL.com.

“He’s a good presence to have around the club and his experience is second to none. The more we can learn from him the better we’ll be.

“He’s shown his game-smarts and his leadership on the field and he’s teaching us boys new things that we didn’t know.

“He’s not someone who will tell you to do something that he won’t do. If he’s telling you to do something then it’s for a good cause and he’s going to back it up and do the same for you.

“He’s a team player and doesn’t want to let his mates down so we’re not going to let him down.”

While Wests Tigers have moved on with their roster, Farah could be the missing link for a Rabbitohs outfit that sorely missed club legend Issac Luke in 2016.

Luke joined the Warriors at the end of the 2015 season. Things didn’t get much better after that for Souths who missed the playoffs and suffered injuries to key personel.

Farah’s direct style will suit Souths down to the ground just as long as their big men can find the dominance that steered them to a premiership in 2014.

While Sam Burgess was outstanding, too much of the workload was left to him and it’s up to his fellow forwards to step up.

If that happens, Farah’s new partnership with Adam Reynolds and Greg Inglis could be deadly.

According to Turner, the star rake is yet to bring up his unceremonious departure from Wests but what better pre-season motivation can a player have?

“I don’t think he’s mentioned it much to be honest,” Turner added.

“We’re just trying to get through each day at the moment of pre-season. I think he’s just looking forward to the opportunity of getting out there again.”

Farah will get to settle the nerves in the trials when the Rabbitohs play a trial at the home of Wests Tigers, Campbelltown Stadium, against Manly-Warringah.
