PETER STERLING

When Jack Gibson was asked who the best player he ever coached was, his answer was easy: “Sterlo”.

Peter Sterling is arguably Parramatta’s greatest ever player helping the Eels to premierships in 1981, 1982, 1983 and 1986.

Despite being behind rival Steve Mortimer at the time, Sterling was selected for the 1982 Kangaroo Tour and would use the tour to cement his place as the world’s best halfback, playing in all five tests against Great Britain and France.

Sterling would amass 18 games for the Kangaroos and 13 games for New South Wales in an illustrious career that would eventually end in 1992.

Without missing a beat, Sterlo walked straight into the Channel Nine commentary box and cemented his place as the premier expert commentator in rugby league.

He is still one of the top minds in the game and currently works for Channel Nine and Triple M.
