They don’t deserve to play for their country: Jim Doyle

Anzac Test match guarantees Ben Matulino and Manu Vatuvei have been left out of the Kiwi team to play Australia after the Warriors stood them down along with Bodene Thompson, Albert Vete, Sam Lisone, Konrad Hurrell after a late night in Melbourne.

None of them played against St George Illawarra at Mount Smart Stadium – a match the Warriors won.

“What we’ve said to the players is that representing your country in international football is a reward,” Warriors managing director Jim Doyle told NZ Newswire.

“It’s a reward for both how you perform on the field and also how you conduct yourself off the field.

“Unfortunately this recent incident that we’ve had means they do not deserve a reward, hence the reason why they are not eligible to play.”
