Somebody stop him he’ll run out of the stadium!

The voice of generations, rugby league’s greatest caller, Ray Warren, is set to retire at the end of season 2016.

2016 will mark Warren’s 50th season as a caller and the man affectionately known as ‘Rabs’ says it’s the perfect time to get out.

“I’m thinking this season will be it for me, I’m thinking that way,” Warren told Fairfax.

“In fact, I’d be happy to get through the year, to be honest.

“I’ve had some bad health in the past 12 months and had too many anesthetics, maybe it’s trying to tell me something.

“I’m thinking if I can get through this year it would be good. I’ve had the prostate problem, hernias and God knows what operated on.

“You’re in hospital with all the footballers in the off season.”

For decades footy fans have lived Friday night footy, State of Origins and grand finals with the great man who has been the voice of the Nine Network’s league coverage since the early 1990’s.
