San Francisco 49er Jarryd Hayne has labeled Parramatta fans “clowns” for believing he would turn his back on his beloved Eels if he ever returned to the NRL.

Reports recently linked Hayne to a return to his original sport but at the Sydney Roosters, a rumour Hayne shot down on Sydney’s Triple M.

“If I ever came back, I would go to Parra if they wanted me,” Hayne said.

“That’s always something I said from the start.

“It’s funny when you see media outlets trying to say I’m doing this and that.

“It’s even funnier when you see Parra fans get online and have a go at me, if you believe that, you’re a clown.”

Hayne confirmed though that his focus is squarely on his second campaign in the NFL and securing a starting position at the Californian franchise.
