Mundine says Broncos right fit for Roberts

Speed machine and former Gold Coast centre James Roberts may not be leaving Queensland after all with media reports suggesting the classy outside back is eager to link up with Wayne Bennett and the Brisbane Broncos.

Roberts’ cousin Anthony Mundine played under Bennett in 1997 and won the Super League competition with the Brisbane-based super club.

“I was coached by Wayne and he knows how to get the best out of his players,’’ Mundine told The Daily Telegraph.

“I’ve always believed football is like boxing where the simpler things are, the better it is.

“Wayne is one of the best coaches out there, and it’s not just his coaching, but how he deals with individuals, and that’s what sets him apart from everyone else and why he generates the respect from the players.”
