WESTS TIGERS RIGHT AND WESTS TIGERS WRONG

It has already been said this week but Wayne Bennett was ahead of his time when it came to squad management. Who else but Bennett would have the balls to sack ‘The King’ Wally Lewis?

Wests Tigers have found themselves in a similar situation this week with the shock news that they’ve tapped their legendary hooker Robbie Farah on the shoulder and told him to look elsewhere in 2016.

All well and good considering the salary cap predicament the Tigers are already in. They’re letting Pat Richards and Keith Galloway go, apparently Chris Lawrence is next. So the news of Farah’s impending departure comes as little surprise when you put it in perspective. The club wants a fresh start and the skipper is taking up a fair whack of their cap.

Problem is, the Tigers are already in financial turmoil.

They’ve gone to the NRL several times for handouts but then have the audacity to sack coaches mid-contract.. twice?

If Farah goes, Wests will stay have to pay him. They’ll have room to sign MORE players and will STILL be paying Farah.

What kind of business is that?

Especially for a club struggling financially.

MANAIA CHERRINGTON

And what about the bloke supposedly replacing Farah?

I can say without a shadow of a doubt Cherrington is going to be a superstar in the NRL.

Over the last few years I’ve called ten or eleven games for The81stMinute and 2GLF where Cherrington has simply been a cut above everyone else.

He is a bona fide gun.

Think a cross between Benji Marshall and Cameron Smith.

COWBOYS DEFIANT WITHOUT MORGAN

Time has proven Johnathan Thurston alone can’t hand North Queensland a premiership.

What has been different in 2015 is the support team around the great man that has propelled the Cowboys as a premiership heavyweight and legitimate title contender.

The Cowboys can say what they want and off course coach Paul Green is going to defend his team, but they have to cop it because until they win the big one, the detractors will always be there.

North Queensland has a real chance this weekend to stand up against the Storm in Melbourne.

Let’s see what they’ve got.

BRISBANE SET TO FINISH THEIR FORTNIGHT IN SYDNEY

The Broncos have been in Sydney for the last two weeks facing heavyweights Sydney Roosters last weekend and South Sydney in round 25.

Last weekend they went down 12-10 and they may very well drop this one too against the defending premiers. It could go either way.

But if the Broncos put up another gutsy showing against the Rabbitohs and they steer clear of injuries, this well could be the two games that win them a premiership in the first weekend of October.

The Roosters lost hulking prop Jared Waerea-Hargreaves and captain Mitchell Pearce against Brisbane, JWH for the season.

Did the Broncos really lose?

Let’s see what happens against the Rabbitohs.

All Bennett would want is another good performance.
